From the Office for Educational Policy at The University of Arkansas:
Dear Superintendent Stauffacher,
Congratulations on being recognized by OEP as having one of the highest-achieving middle schools in Arkansas! As you may know, the Office for Education Policy (OEP) at the University of Arkansas creates an annual report entitled the Outstanding Educational Performance Awards highlighting the highest-performing schools in Arkansas.
In our report being released tomorrow, Heber Springs Middle School received four awards:
- Northeast Region Overall High Achieving
- Northeast Region ELA High Achieving
- Northeast Region Math High Achieving
- Northeast Region Science High Achieving
Awards are based on the OEP-created “school GPA,” calculated on the basis of the percentage of students that perform at each level on the 2016 ACT Aspire Math, ELA, and Science. To learn more about how we determined the OEP award winners and to see the full list of award recipients, you can view the report here.
We congratulate you on this accomplishment and hope that you will share this good news with teachers, students, and others who contributed to your school’s success.
OEP awards will continue next week with High Achieving high schools. On March 15th, we will release the “Beating the Odds” awards, which highlight high performing high poverty schools throughout the state.
